HEALTH TIPS 2019

EATING LATE AT NIGHT
Researchers say eating late at night can increase your levels of glucose and cholesterol in the body. Increased levels of them can lead to diabetes and cardiovascular disease respectively.
Other studies also show that it can lead to gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) which is a digestive disorder where stomach acid or bile irritates the esophagus, causing the pain and discomfort we know as heartburn.

 TAKING TOO MUCH SALT
When you eat too much salt, the kidneys work to filter the excess from the bloodstream. The more you take salt into the body, the more the kidneys work to filter the blood. This makes the kidney to over work which can cause kidney failure. You should eat no more than 5.8 grams of salt daily.

   EATING MORE EGGS PER DAY
Egg is noted for the high content of cholesterol it contains. Taking more eggs will increase your levels of cholesterol in the body. This can lead to high risk of cardiovascular disease.

STAY AWAY FROM MOBILE PHONES WHEN CHARGING
Do not charge your mobile phone or any device next to you when you are sleeping. Because these devices emit  high radiations in the night and this is very dangerous to the body. If you must, keep it charging a good distance away from the bed, or any other flammable substances. And absolutely not under your pillow where the heat generated during charging had no place to go.

AVOID URINE RETENTION FOR LONGER TIME
Keeping your urine in your bladder for too long is a bad idea. A full bladder can cause bladder damage. The urine that stays in the bladder multiplies bacteria quickly. Once the urine re-fluxes back to the ureter and kidneys, the toxic substances can result in kidney infections, then urinary tract infections, and then nephritis, and even uremia. When nature calls – do it as soon as possible.
DRINKING TOO MUCH CAFFEINE AND CARBONATED DRINKS
Many companies that produce drinks and beverages use carbon as a preservative. Caffeine is a component of many sodas and soft drinks. Both carbon and caffeine affect how efficient the kidneys work.  It raises your blood pressure and your kidneys start suffering. So you should cut down the amount of carbonated and caffeinated drinks you take in daily.

SLEEP AT LEAST 6 HOURS DAILY
Sleeping between 6- 8 hours daily helps to improve memory, reduces stress and helps to maintain weight. It also helps to reduce the risk of other health conditions like diabetes and hypertension.

  NOT DRINKING ENOUGH WATER
Our kidneys should be hydrated properly to perform their functions well. If we don’t drink enough, the toxins can start accumulating in the blood, as there isn’t enough fluid to drain them through the kidneys. Drink more than 8 glasses of water daily. There is an easy way to check if you are drinking enough water: look at the colour of your urine; the lighter the colour, the enough water you take in.

AVOID TAKING TOO MUCH COLD WATER
When cold water enters the body, it makes the stomach to contract. Stomach contraction makes food digestion difficult. Cold water also hardens the food which makes it not properly digested. So the necessary nutrients are not gotten from the food.

EATING TOO MUCH PROTEIN
Too much protein( especially meat) in your diet is harmful for your kidneys. Protein digestion produces ammonia – a toxin that is very destructive to your kidneys. More meat equals more kidney damage.
