CHRISTMAS, YOU ARE VERY WICKED!!!

Christmas is an occasion that is celebrated on December 25th to mark the birth of Jesus Christ. It is both a sacred religious holiday and a worldwide cultural and commercial phenomenon. For two millennia, people around the world have been observing it with traditions and practices that are both religious and secular in nature. Christmas is a period where people engage in a lot of activities to have fun and make merry while a very few are careful how they live during Christmas. Others also do things carelessly which sometimes leave them with a mark which they may live with it for the rest of their lives. Christmas is a good occasion but if you do not celebrate it carefully, you may end up saying "CHRISTMAS, YOU ARE VERY WICKED".

This article seeks to bring your conscience on the things to be careful about and the things to do as a new Christmas is approaching. Here are 5 things to be careful about and two things to add to your to-do-list this Christmas;

1. MODERATION IS IMPORTANT

I am not here to tell you the different ways to celebrate Christmas neither am I here to show you the numerous ways to waste your lives away during this festive period. I am here to preach moderation. You may ask what then is moderation? Moderation is the avoidance of excesses or extremes, especially in one's behaviour in times of festivities. All I want to tell you is that as young people, we need to be measured in all that we do. Let your life be guided by the principle of moderation so as not to end your life all in the name of celebrating Christmas.

2. AVOID UNNECESSARY SPENDING

Many people spend a chunk of their monies during Christmas. We do that to ensure we become happy and enjoy during the festive season. But to make a critical analysis, a lot of things that we spend our finances on are not really important or necessary. People spend all their monies in the name of merrymaking and go broke after the occasion. That should not be your story. Be thoughtful about your finances and spend according to your needs without being irresponsible.

3. TRY NOT TO BECOME A MOTHER/ FATHER

This message is particularly for young adults who are not married and has no plan of nurturing a baby. During this festive period, a lot of people engage themselves in many sexual activities as their way of having fun. Abstinence has always been the best practice for young adults who are not married. If you cannot abstain, heed my advice- use condoms and avoid multiple partners. This may help you avoid unwanted pregnancies during this time of celebration. Mind you, sexually transmitted diseases including HIV are still on the rise, be very careful. Do not have fun today and suffer for the rest of your life.
4. TRY NOT TO DIE

It is good to celebrate and be happy but it is far more important to be alive after the celebration.  Take your time, avoid adventures that are too risky. Do not drink and drive as it may cause an accident. Also, drink alcohol in moderation and avoid smoking. Try your best to live healthy before and after this occasion.

5. SAY NO TO INTANGIBLE MEET-UPS AND PARTIES

I know you are planning to meet that person you have been chatting online for the past months. That is fine but my dear, if you are not sure about meeting that stranger then don't. God gave us instincts to prevent us from certain dangers that are yet to come. Please follow them. Those of us who do not have instinct, let wisdom guide you. Friends may also influence you to attend unplanned programs and parties but before you say yes, know that you will be safe at the event. If your safety is not promised, then it is better to stay at home than to show up for such events.

6. IMPACT A LIFE THIS SEASON

The Christmas season is a perfect time to show love and kindness to others. That neighbor who has no food to eat, give him or her some of your food. Clothe those who need them. This Christmas, try to make a significant impact in another soul’s life. Remember that there is more blessings to give than to receive.

7. A TIME TO MAKE CHRIST KNOWN

Christmas is celebrated to mark the birth of Jesus Christ- the one who came to die and save us from our sins that through Him we may have eternal life. Many people out there do not know this Jesus who has been born and it is your duty to teach such people about Christ. Preach to people about Christ and lead them to accept Christ if the need be.

Christmas is a beautiful occasion and let us celebrate it as such. I personally want to thank all those who helped me in the writing of this article. I am much grateful to you all. Merry Christmas and a Prosperous New Year. Share to bless others.
