The scientific name for ginger is Zingiber offcinale.Ginger forms part of the rhizome family.Ginger is widely used as spice or medicine.There are several benefits of ginger. They include;
1. GINGER INHIBITS CANCER GROWTH
One major benefit of ginger is its anti-cancer properties due to the presence of 6-gingerol.Cancer is a very serious disease that is caused by uncontrolled growth of abnormal cells.The compound 6-gingerol can inhibit cancer cell growth and development for ovarian,pancreatic,bone,liver and prostate cancer.


2. GINGER HELPS TREAT NAUSEA
Ginger is highly effective against any form of nausea. Ginger inhibits serotonin function in the digestive tract which prevents over activation of the vagal nerve that triggers nausea and vomiting. A study shows that ginger helps reduce nausea severity in patients receiving chemotherapy.
